Mackintosh Industry Live Outerwear Project
My brief for this project was to create a piece of outerwear featuring donated Mackintosh rubberised cotton. My concept explores the interlinked themes of 1940s/50s 'stay at home' women’s workwear, the 2020 woman who working from home and the idea of longevity and making a garment last; something that was encouraged during times of rationing in the 40s. My project looks at crafting, something popular among housewives historically and something that has had a resurgence with many of us staying at home during lockdown.
